Oh What a Night!
Oh, what a night! Mentoring Plus held its Annual Seeds of Hope Award banquet on Friday, April 4, 2014, and honored the outgoing President of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Steve Stevens, for his contributions to the improvement of our community. Over 200 guests sipped cocktails and enjoyed the pleasant music from guitarist/vocalist Tom Kohlhepp, while bidding on amazing Silent Auction items and Chinese Raffle baskets.
A big thank you goes to Hosea Worldwide Project Movers for sponsoring the sit-down dinner. Other notable sponsors include Kessling Financial Group, Desmond Brothers Insurance, Linnemann Funeral Homes, the Kiwanis Club of Covington, NewForms Printing; and Cleves and Lonneman Jewelers of Bellevue, who donated the absolutely beautiful set of diamond earrings for this year’s Grand Raffle prize.
In addition to tons of fun, Mentoring Plus raised over $30,000 to further its cause of helping these kids.
This year’s event was held at the gorgeous Grand Daymar Room, on the top floor of the Daymar College Building on Route 8 in Bellevue, Kentucky. The Cincinnati skyline provided a stunning backdrop for the evening. Four 60-inch video screens displayed photos of Mentoring-Plus kids and the logos of our generous sponsors. Another thank you goes to Clay Wagenlander, who donated the huge video screens and produced and edited the video shown during dinner. Chairman, Judge Mickey Foellger, and Director, Kevin Kennedy, spoke about the organization during dinner, but the highlight of the evening was a speech by our program’s very own Masius Jones.
After-dinner excitement included a game of Heads & Tails, after which the winner donated back all of his winnings. Festivities also included live bidding on two tickets on the Ultimate Air Shuttle and the wheelbarrow of whiskey.
