Why does Mentoring Plus want to know if I have a disability?

You might be eligible for specific services.

Depending on your individual situation, you might be eligible for additional services, such as help finding (or keeping) a job. This information can help us determine which programs and services will be most useful to you in achieving your goals.

What exactly is a disability?

Disabilities come in many forms, and they are not always visible to others.
A disability could be:

  • a mental health diagnosis, like depression or substance use disorder

  • a physical impairment, like a back injury or chronic illness

  • impairment of your vision or hearing

  • a developmental delay or learning disorder

How do I know if I have a disability?

It depends on how much it’s impacting your life:

Physical, mental, or sensory impairments are usually considered disabilities when they interfere with your ability to function well at work, at home, at school, or in your community. You might have a diagnosis from a physician or mental health professional, or your disability might be undiagnosed.
